Tuscaloosa's Fleshner headed to Olympic Trials

Former University of Alabama diver Aaron Fleshner, who is originally from Texas but works, lives and trains in Tuscaloosa now, will be among the more than 100 divers expected to compete for a spot on the USA Olympic Team. He will be among those competing at the U.S. Olympic Team Trials in Indianapolis June 18-26.

The 27-year-old Fleshner will compete in the individual 3-meter and, with Miami's Briadam Herrera, the synchronized 3-meter at the trials.

The top two individuals and the top synchronized team will be selected to the U.S. Olympic Team.

Fleshner was the bronze medalist on 3-meter at the 2015 AT&T National Diving Championships and finished fifth on the event at the 2015 USA Diving Winter National Championships, at which he and Herrera finished eighth in the synchronized competition.

Fleshner balances his training with a full-time job at the University of Alabama, where he works as a software developer at the Center for Advanced Public Safety. The All-American diver for the Crimson Tide graduated with a degree in computer science in 2011.
